Bass is often considered by many anglers to be one of the most desired species caught on rod and line. This powerful fish with its spiked dorsal fin and forked tail can be found very close to land and may be caught from beaches, estuaries, rocky headlands and piers. Usually found over sand banks, Beale Bar being a classic example in the area. The best method we find is to use live sand eels on a long flowing trace or ragworm and sometimes peeler crab. Bass fishing is recommended for more experienced anglers.
Unlike many other charter boats, Deep Sea Charters offers the following at no extra cost: Fishing rods, Fishing Tackle, Tea/ Coffee, Soup.
Please Note: Due to the dramatic reduction of Bass in Irish waters during the seventies and eighties, anglers are only permitted to have two bass in their possession in any one 24-hour period and both must exceed 40cm in length. There is also a closed season for bass from the 15th of May to the 15th of June each year so any bass caught during this time must be returned alive to the water!
