ASKED QUESTIONS
How
many people can the boat carry ?
The
Keltoi Warrior is licensed and insured to carry
a maximum of 12 paying passengers and 2 crew.
What
if there are only six of us ?
Firstly,
you are paying for the hire of the boat not per
passenger. Where possible we can try and combine
parties to suit.
Do
you require a deposit ?
YES
- to secure your booking you will need to send
a deposit of €150, per day booked ( a full
week charter would require a deposit of €750,
one day requires a deposit of €150 ).
What
if the charter is cancelled ?
If
the skipper cancels due to weather or circumstances
beyond his control the deposit will be refunded
in full.
If the charterer cancels the trip within 6 weeks
of its date, the deposit is forfeited. If a cancellation
occurs within 3 weeks of its date the entire fee
is payable.
Is
the boat licensed and insured ?
The
Keltoi Warrior is licensed by the Department of
the Marine. It is also fully insured for charter.
A copy of our licence and insurance is on board
which you are welcome to view.
What
about safety equipment ?
Safety
of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance.
The boat is equipped accordingly over and above
the Departments recommendations.
Is
bait provided ?
Not
normally, mackerel ( our most popular bait ) is
usually feathered on the way to the fishing grounds.
What
happens to our catch ?
Normally
we release most of our catch, with species such
as Blue Shark and Tope we tag and release, which
is monitored by the Central Fisheries Board.
What
tackle should I bring ?
You
will usually need a 30lb class downtide outfit
for general fishing i.e. Tope and Conger. You
could also bring 12-20lb uptider/downtider for
Pollack, Bass, Ray etc.
Braid fishes well in the stronger runs of tide
and heads from 5oz to 11/2oz should suffice.
Rods
and Reels are available to hire onboard at €20
per outfit. End tackle lost is charged extra.
What
clothing should I bring ?
We
recommend you wear many layers of clothing rather
than one heavy item. It is usually much cooler
at sea with the breeze being stronger also a good
set of waterproofs is advisable.
Do
I need food ?
Copious
amounts of Tea and Coffee are provided onboard
FOC
It's recommended you bring a packed lunch, this
can be provided if necessary at extra cost. The
heating of food onboard is provided.
